Ede Muslim Council Inaugurates Committee to Give Title Awards, Scholarships

The Ede Muslim Council on Thursday, inaugurated an 11-man committee to oversee the selection of Islamic Title holders and Awards of Scholarship to recipients in the community.

At the inauguration, the Chief Imam of Ede land, Sheikh Moshood Hussain Akajewole urged the committee to embrace openess, accountability and compassion in their dealings for the glory of Islam in the land.

He told the committee to be steadfast and ready at all times to perform any task given to them by using Chapter 48 , Verse 10 of Holy Quran.

Corroborating the chief Imam, the Baba Addeen of Ede land, Alhaj AbdulGaniy Lawal advised the members of the committee to see their new assignment as a way of serving Allah, which “deserves openess, humility and patience.”

Speaking at the event, the Chairman Ede Muslim Council, Dr Misbaudeen Idris Shekoni urged the committee to justify the confidence reposed in them by working diligently to ensure the terms of reference of the committee are realised.

He said that the members of the committee were selected based on their track records and significant roles they had played in the society, especially as it affects Islam.

The committee was headed by Alhaji Taofiq kola Alimi. Other members are: Alhaji Murtala Yusuff, Alhaj Roofii Inaolaji; Dr AbdulWahab Solaudeen; Mallam Isiaq Awwal and Dr Daud Akindele.

Others are: Alhajis Muideen Sadiq, Akeeb Jamiu Abd Razaq Badmus; Ustaz Mutiu Tijani and Hussain Shittu.

Meanwhile, the maiden edition of Scholarship Awards to ‘Omo Ile-Kewu’ in a bid to assist the brilliant indigent students was performed at the event.

About 50 students from different Arabic Madrasat were given N20,000. each to cater for their institution fees and other needs.

Speaking on the gasture, Dr Idris said the token was to alleviate the financial difficulties facing the beneficiaries.

He appreciated those that have contributed in one way or the other towards the presentation of the scholarship and prayed Allah to reward them abundantly.

The event, which was held at the Ede Central Mosque, Oja-Timi, was graced by a large turnout of people from far and near.
