Ile-Ife (Osun) FLOWERBUDNEWS: Osun indigenes working at the ongoing construction of the Ultramodern Flyover Bridge at Lagere area of Ile-Ife have commended Governor Ademola Adeleke for providing them a means of livelihood through the project.
Speaking in an interview with a Media team of FLOWERBUDNEWS in Ile-Ife on Monday, the workers said that by executing the project, Governor Adeleke was indirectly putting food on their tables, with many of them disclosing that they now enjoy stable means of income working with Messrs SAMMYA NIGERIA LIMITED, the engineering firm handling the project.
”I am sincerely grateful to our kind-hearted and good Governor Adeleke for initiating this project, which is now providing gainful employment for so many of us, especially, we artisans,” a worker, Mr. Sunday Ayomide told Flowerbudnews.
He urged the Governor not to be distracted by unencouraging comments he may hear from other politicians, saying; ”Mr Governor, you are doing very well and GOD will continue to be with you”.
Another worker on the project, Mr. Adewale Adesina Kolapo, who said he had over 30 years experience in Iron Bending, lauded Governor Adeleke for ”pushing state resources to the masses through big projects like this Lagere Flyover Bridge which has provided jobs for scores of professionals and artisans like me”.
Artisan Kolapo, who disclosed that he had worked on bridge projects in several states, including Ebonyi, Anambra and Enugu, specially commended the quality of work they – the artisans were being made to do on the Lagere Bridge.
” The quality of job we are doing here is very different from the jobs I have participated in before. This bridge will be so strong and durable and so pleasurable to drive on, even by heavy duty vehicles,” Kolapo told FLOWERBUDNEWS.
For the high quality work, Kolapo commended the contractor, SAMMYA NIG. LTD, noting the company was another good choice made the State Government which will make the bridge a source of pride.
Another worker, Abubakar Olatunji also.expressed appreciation to Governor Adeleke and SAMMYA NIG. LTD for giving artisans and other workers the opportunity to earn stable income to maintain their families at this time of hardship in the country.
”We are grateful to Governor Adeleke for awarding contract for this job. He has, indirectly put smiles on our faces and should not be discouraged,” Olatunji said.
Many other workers on the site who spoke to the visiting FLOWERBUDNEWS Media Team, also acknowledged the financial benefits they were reaping from the ongoing Bridge project, with many of them assuring that ”2026 will be a total walkover for Governor Adeleke with the current performance.
”What he (Governor Adeleke) has done so far has shown that he must spend his second term to be able to do more good for the masses in this state,” another worker, Bunmi Iyiola remarked in interview with the FLOWERBUDNEWS Media Team.
On the Construction Firm, SAMMYA Nigeria Limited, many of the workers interviewed commended the company for treating them well and giving them a ”sense of belonging,”
One worker, Adebisi Ajayi told FLOWERBUDNEWS; ”we are looking forward to the Osun state government giving more contracts to a good company like this, so that we can have opportunity to work with the company for many more years.”.
”The company has, honestly, been nice and kind to us. Just like GOD has blessed our Osun state with Governor Adeleke, HE (GOD) has also blessed we workers here with a non-exploitative company like this SAMMYA. And, also, they are not cutting corners on the quality of the work at all.
”I recommend them for more jobs so that I too can continue to benefit and take care of my family through them,” Ajayi stated.
The Project Manager of the Lagere Flyover Bridge, Engr. Michael Adedayo told FLOWERBUDNEWS that about 200 people, artisans and other professionals, were currently working with their company, SAMMYA NIG. LTD on the projects. (FLOWERBUDNEWS).
