The University of Benin has suspended academic activities indefinitely due to persistent demands for 24-hour electricity supply and other requests by the students, which were deemed unrealistic by the university’s Senate.
The protest by the students was over a demand for 24-hour electricity supply and the reduction in shuttle fare on the school campus.
Meanwhile, the students are required to vacate the hostels immediately, effective 4th July 2024, and all relevant university units must take note and comply.
The non-teaching staff and those on essential duties are not affected by this shutdown.d
