The duo met during the swearing-in of Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State in Owerri for a second term.

In the past, Tinubu and Obasanjo endured a sour relationship but they seemed to mend the fence prior to the 2023 presidential election when the former visited the ex-president in Ota, Ogun State.

Despite Tinubu’s visit, Obasanjo supported the Labour Party, LP, presidential candidate, Peter Obi, during the last election.

The firefighters, upon arrival, found the entire compound and Edun Market engulfed in flames due to a late call. To enhance firefighting efforts, part of the fence was dismantled for better access.

“At 11:22am, a message was sent to the brigade headquarters for additional manpower, and the proficient firefighters successfully brought the situation under control within an hour before completely extinguishing the fire.

Investigation revealed that an unknown person had set refuse on fire, initially mistaken for harmless smoke. Unfortunately, it spread to the nearby compound.”

Hassan, Head of Department of Media, expressed condolences to Magaji Megida Onikanhun’s representative, Kuranga Yunus Adebayo.

He commended the fire service’s efforts, adding that the fire incident left over 120 occupants homeless, affected 44 rooms and a mosque in the 75-room Magaji Onikanhun’s Compound. Fortunately, there were no casualties.

The Federal Fire Service and officers from the Department of Disaster Management, NSCDC, and State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, and operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps were on ground to ensure crowd control and prevent potential looting, safeguarding both market goods and the firefighters.

Director, Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, urged the general public to always play safe, especially during this period and not to hesitate to call the fire brigade on time whenever there is any fire emergency in their areas, as this would save lives and properties of people in the state

N438m Contract Scandal: CCB summons Interior Minister, Tunji-Ojo

The Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB, has summoned the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, to appear before it on Tuesday.

The Bureau, which was established to ensure the maintenance of high standards in the conduct of government business and to enforce the code of conduct for public officers as contained in Part I of the Third and Fifth schedules to the 1999 Constitution, as amended, summoned the Minister over the alleged involvement of his company in a N438million contract scandal.

CCB, in a letter that was signed on behalf of its Chairman, Murtala Aliyu, by the Director, Investigation and Monitoring, Gwimi S.P, directed the Minister of Interior to appear at its headquarters in Abuja.

“The bureau is investigating a case of alleged breach of the Code of Conduct for Public Officers in which your name featured prominently.

“Consequently, you are invited for an interview scheduled as follows:

“Date: Tuesday, 16th January, 2024. Time: 1100hrs prompt. Venue: CCB Headquarters on 5th Floor, Annex III, Phase I, Federal Secretariat Complex, Abuja.

“This invitation is pursuant to the mandate and powers of the Bureau as enshrined in the Third Schedule, Part I, Paragraph 3 (e) to the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended. Please be properly guided,” the letter read.

It will be recalled that a company, New Planet Projects, allegedly belonging to Tunji-Ojo, was listed as a beneficiary of a N585m contract payment scandal that led to the suspension of the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu by President Bola Tinubu.

The company was one of the consultants awarded contracts worth N3billion by the suspended minister for the National Social Register contract.

The social register was created for cash transfers and other social investment programmes.

Edu had asked the Accountant General of the Federation, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein, to send public funds to a private account that belonged to Oniyelu Bridget Mojisola, identified as a project manager by the minister.

She subsequently approved the disbursement of the sum of N585,198,500.00 into a personal account.

The suspended Minister allegedly approved funds for flight tickets and airport taxis for her team, from Abuja to Kogi State, even though the later has no airport.

It was further reported that New Planet Projects, which was incorporated by Tunji-Ojo, allegedly received N438 million as ‘consultancy fees’ from the suspended Minister who is currently under the radar of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

the Interior Minister had since debunked his alleged involvement with the company, insisting that he was neither a part of the day-to-day operations of the firm nor a signatory to its accounts.

“As I have always said, I came into public office with a commitment to base my service on sincerity of purpose and openness. I believe that Nigerians don’t deserve to be kept in the dark in terms of public office operations.

“And actually, I was shocked because the company in question was a company where I was a director about five years ago. I had resigned from my directorship.”

The Minister said he founded the company alongside his wife, adding that his resignation from the firm was owing to his political ambition.

He said: “I and my wife founded the company 15 years years ago. Well, in 2019, when I got to the House of Representatives., when I won election precisely, I made a change.

“I had resigned as director of the company to hold office.”

The Minister said he was only a shareholder of the company, which according to him was not a violation of the law.

“Of course, and to the best of my knowledge, the public service rule does not prohibit public officers from being shareholders,” Tunji-Ojo added while answering questions on Channels television.

”As the quality culture of NAFDAC demands, as soon as the Agency became aware of the news, the Director General, had meetings with the respective Directors and gave a directive that a survey of the market should be done to sample and test, ” She explained.

The Director General also met with the leadership of the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Group of the Manufacturing Association of Nigeria to inform them of the Agencys intent.

  • Alleged N30m fraud: Court remands ex-lawmaker in Kuje correction centre

Alleged N30m fraud: Court remands ex-lawmaker in Kuje correction centre

Abuja:  A Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday, ordered Mr Suleiman Dabo, the immediate-past member of Kaduna State House of Assembly representing Zaria Constituency, to be remanded in Kuje Correctional Centre pending ruling in his bail plea.

Justice James Omotosho gave the order following Dabo’s arraignment by the police on a seven-count charge bordering on alleged fraud to the tune of N30 million.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Dabo was arraigned alongside his company, Ohman International Venture Ltd., in the charge marked: FHC/ABJ/CR/363/2021, as 1st and 2nd defendant.

In count one, the ex-lawmaker and his company, sometime in October and November, 2017, were alleged to have conspired to obtained the sum of N30 million by false pretence from Mrs Folashade S. Mojeolaoluwa.
In count two, Dabo and the company, sometime in October and November, 2017, were alleged to have defrauded Mrs Folashade S. Mojeolaoluwa of the sum of N30 million through a GTBank Account No: 0172410075 with account name: Ohman International Venture Limited.

It alleged that the defendants had, on the pretence of selling a scrap vessel ship known as ADNAN 101, commited the act “when you presented yourself to Mrs Folashade S. Mojeolaoluwa as the bonafide owner of the scrap ship.”
In count three, they were alleged to have converted the N30 million to themselves, the property derived directly from the proceeds of theft with the aim of concealing or disguising the illicit origin of the money.
The offences were said to be contrary to Section 8 and punishable under Section 1 (3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act and Section 15(1) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act LFN 2011, among others.
However, they both pleaded not guilty to the seven counts.
Police counsel, Mathew Omosun, prayed the court to order his remand in view of his non guilty plea.
But A.S. Egene, who represented Dabo in court, opposed Omosun’s application.
Egene said there was a pending bail application dated Nov. 3, 2021, though another one dated Nov. 3, 2023 was also before the court
He sought to withdraw the Nov. 3, 2023 process and it was struck out.
The lawyer, who said a brother judge handling the case before admitted Dabo to bail, urged the court to grant their prayers in the same bail terms.
Omosun objected to the application, saying a counter affidavit dated Sept. 8, 2022, was filed in that respect.
Justice Omotosho then observed from the court file that the ex-lawmaker was absent in court in about eight times since the matter was reassigned to him.
Egene pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy.
“As a lawmaker, he should know that the temple of justice must be respected,” the judge responded.

In a short ruling, Justice Omotosho held that in view of the fact that the defendant had been absent in the past proceedings for about eight times, the court would adjourn to consider and study the case file judiciously and judicially to arrive at its ruling.

He consequently fixed Feb. 5 for ruling on the bail application.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng) / Flowerbudnews

  • THE IMPORTANCE OF HISTORY, THE BLOODY COUP OF JANUARY 15th 1966 AND A TRIBUTE TO OUR HEROES PAST

THE IMPORTANCE OF HISTORY, THE BLOODY COUP OF JANUARY 15th 1966 AND A TRIBUTE TO OUR HEROES PAST

    By Femi Fani-Kayode

Nigeria is the only country in the world in which history is not taught.

This policy has done us much harm and represents perhaps the greatest, most savage, most brutal and most destructive blow to the pysche, confidence, knowledge, intellectual acumen and mental health of our people.

The consequence of this egregious and unbelievable error and grave oversight is the fact that we are now having to contend with a vast population of over 220 million people who are essentially ignorant of their own past, that have no knowledge of their noble historical heritage and that predicate and rationalise their nation’s existence on lies, misinformation, disinformation, falsehood, folklore, fairy tales, fantasy, self-serving and selective clap trap and a more than heavy dose of intellectual distortion and historical revisionism.

This is precisely why we are, in the main, essentially a conflicted and confused people who have no idea where we are coming from, where we are today or where we are going tomorrow.

This is why we, more often than not, view, discuss and debate our nation’s history with an emotional bent and from a thoroughly subjective, unintelligent and unintellectual prism rather than an objective, plausible, logical, level- headed, factual and intelligent one with strong primary sources and unassailable empirical evidence.

We have little or no regard or appreciation of the heroic deeds, monumental struggles, historical achievements and extraordinary sacrifices that our forefathers made in the struggle against British colonial rule, the fight for independence, the struggle against military rule and the challenges and obstacles that our politicians from the First, Second and Third republics faced, surmounted and overcame to get us to where we are.

This is our reality and frankly it is pitiful.

I say pitiful because without any knowledge of our history we are nothing.

Worse of all is the fact that, having learnt nothing from our past mistakes and numerous historical challenges because we have no idea about precisely what those mistakes and challenges were, it becomes inevitable for us to repeat them.

Permit me to tickle your collective fancies by asking the following questiins.

How many Nigerians know who Alafin Aole Arogangan, Sheik Usman Dan Fodio, Bishop Ajayi Crowther, Rev. Emmanuel Adelabi Kayode (my great grandfather), Herbert Macauly, Sapara Williams, Rev. Suberu Fanimokun, Isaac Boro, General Murtala Mohammed, Alhaji Ali Akilu, Alhaji Umaru Shinkafi, Colonel Gideon Orkar and Alhaji Waziri Ibrahim were?

How many know anything about Ernest Ikoli, Alhaji Aminu Kano, Chief Joseph Tarka, Owelle Nnamdi Azikiwe, Justice Daddy Onyeama, Chief Philip Asiodu, Chief Allison Ayida, Chief Hope Harriman, Chief Godfrey Amachree, Alhaji Adamu Attah, Alhaju Adamu Augie, Chief Solomon Lar, Alhaji Saleh Jambo, Alhaji Saleh Hassan, Oba Adesoji Aderemi and Alhaji Adamu Ciroma?

How many know much about General Hassan Katsina, General Ibrahim Babangida, General Shehu Musa Yar’adua, General TY Danjuma, General Sani Abacha, Colonel Abubakar Dangiwa Umar, Dr. Olusola Saraki, Chief KO Mbadiwe, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Sir Adetokunboh Ademola, Chief FRA Williams, Justice Atanda Fatayi-Williams, Oba Okunade Sijuwade and the Black Scorpion, Benjamin Adekunle?

How many know anything about the Black Victorians of the old Lagos colony or Sara Forbes Bonneta who was the god-daughter of Queen Victoria of Great Britain.

How many have ever heard about Sara’s distinguished and well to do husband, Captain James Pinson Labulo Davis, a wealthy businessman and philanthropist from old Lagos.

How many know anything about the politics and history of Nigeria in the 1920’s, 1930’s, 1940’s, 1950’s, 1960’s, 1970’s, 1980’s and 1990’s?

How many knew that it was only in the 1950’s that Nigerians were allowed to live in the area of Lagos known as Ikoyi and that this came about only as a consequence of the long and bitter struggle and great and irresistible agitation of the proud and noble Nigerian leaders of the old Lagos colony of that day.

Up until then Ikoyi was a residential area that was the exclusive preserve of the European settlers and colonialists!

How many have heard about Justice Victor Adedapo Kayode, my Cambridge-University trained paternal grandfather who was one of the leading criminal lawyers of his generation, who was the third Nigerian to be appointed as a Magistrate (in those days all our judges were white) and who landed a dirty slap on the face of a British colonial officer in broad daylight outside the front door of the old Bristol Hotel in Lagos for his insolence, impertinence and overtly racist remarks!

The following day the matter was reported in the newspapers and it created quite a stir!

How many know about what really happened during our civil war and what led to it?

How many know about President Shehu Shagari and the Second Republic and how many have any knowledge of Chief MKO Abiola in the third?

How many know about military rule in Nigeria and who the main players were and how many have any idea about the coups and attempted coups we have experienced since independence?

Sadly most Nigerians, particularly in the Gen Z generation, know NOTHING about their nations past and its major players and even when they do that knowledge is sparse, scanty, shallow and, more often than not, minimal, inconsequential and obscure.

It really is a tragedy and one of the reasons that yours truly has written this contribution about the relevance of January 15th in our calender is to at least attempt to enlighten those that are intelligent enough to appreciate the importance of history and that have no idea why we even have or celebrate an Armed Forces Remebrance Day or where our seemingly unending troubles and turmoil really started.

    Consider the following.

Today is Armed Forces Remembrance Day and it is a day that we are constrained to rembember our fallen heroes.

Many in the younger generation do not know why this particular day was chosen to commemorate those that fell and the tragic events that led to their brutal murder.

Permit me to enlighten those that know no better and to share the facts.

58 years ago today, on January 15th 1966, a bloody, vicious, merciless, unrelenting and violent mutiny took place in our Armed Forces in which many of our reverred, respected and beloved political leaders and senior military officers, together with some members of their respective families, were humiliated, tortured, mutilated and finally murdered in cold blood.

Those that were killed were Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, the Prime Minister, Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna of Sokoto and Premier of the old Northern Region, Chief S.L. Akintola, the Premier of the old Western Region, Brigadier Zakariya Maimalari, Colonel James Pam, Brigadier Samuel Ademulegun, Colonel Ralph Sodeinde, Chief Festus Okotie-Eboh, the Minister of Finance, Colonel Arthur Unegbe, Colonel Kur Mohammed, Lt. Colonel Abogo Largema, Mrs. Hafsatu Bello, the wife of the Sardauna of Sokoto, Zarumi, the bodyguard of the Sardauna of Sokoto, Mrs. Lateefat Ademulegun, the wife of Brigadier Ademulegun, Ahmed B. Musa, Ahmed Pategi, Sgt. Daramola Oyegoke, PC Yohana Garkawa, PC Musa Nimzo, PC Akpan Anduka, PC Hagai Lai and PC Philip Lewande.

Two others were also abducted by the mutineers from their homes that night and brutalised. Thankfully they both managed to escape with their lives.

The first was Chief Remilekun Adetokunboh Fani-Kayode KC, SAN, CON, the Balogun of Ile-Ife and the Deputy Premier of the old Western Region (my beloved father).

I personally witnessed some of the events of that night when, led by one Captain Emmanuel Nwobosi, they came to our home and official residence in Government House, Ibadan and abducted him.

Thankfully he was rescued later in the day by loyal troops led by Lt. Colonel Yakubu Gowon (as he then was), Captain Paul Chabri Tarfa (as he then was) and Lt. Takoda, who stormed the officers mess in Dodan Barracks, Lagos where he was taken and was being held by the mutineers and freed him after a prolonged and bloody gun battle which resulted in deaths on both sides.

The second was Sir Kashim Ibrahim, the Governor of the old Northern Region who was rescued and freed by loyalist forces in Kaduna.

Both of these men were delivered by divine providence and went on to live for many more years and make their contributions to national development.

The coup was led by Major Emmanuel Arinze Ifeajuna and Major Chukuwemeka Kaduna Nzeogwu and 90% of the officers involved were Igbo.

The allegation that it was an Igbo coup is accurate and factual regardless of all attempts to revise and re-write history, often by the murderers and mutineers themselves, in a futile attempt to make it look otherwise and portray themselves as patriots and heroes.

They were far from either of the two and the bitter truth is that they were nothing more than a bunch of cowardly, treacherous, self-serving, ungrateful, over ambitious, power- hungry homicidal maniacs and murderous butchers who attempted to take power through the barrel of the gun and impose an ethnic and religious agenda.

The assertion that it was not an Igbo coup is patently false and we owe it to those that lost their lives on that terrible night to at least speak the truth about what happened and who killed them.

I commend the historians, commentators and writers, including individuals like @renoomokri, who have collectively continued to pronounce and enunciate this sacred truth despite the insults and threats which they are often subjected to by those who are blind to the reality, who have no knowledge of history and who have been misguided and brainwashed into believing otherwise.

The cycle of violence that the unprecedented amount of violence and bloodshed that took place that terrible night unleashed was horrendous and not only did it lead directly to what has rightly been described by historians as the “Northern officers revenge coup” 6 months later in July 1966 in which 300 Igbo officers and the Igbo Head of State, General Aguiyi-Ironsi, was murdered but also to the infamous pogroms in the North where up to 100,000 Igbos were murdered by angry mobs and finally the civil war in which up to 3 million Igbo civilians and Biafran soldiers (including 1 million Igbo children) were butchered alongside hundreds of thousands of Nigerian civilians and gallant Army officers.

My prayer is that we never witness or experience such bloody events in our history again but if anyone is interested in knowing where, how and why this terrible series of events and cycle of brutality started they must consider the events of January 15th 1966 when the murderous barbarians that called themselves young Army officers unleashed mayhem on our leaders and killed so many of them in the most beastly and cowardly fashion.

History records all those that were murdered that night as heroes and we shall never belittle, forget or undermine the supreme sacrifice that they made for our beloved nation.

They live on in our hearts and we resolve to soldier on regardless and make Nigeria an even greater and better country than they sought to make it and to honour their memory by building on their great and noble heritage and legacy.

May their precious souls continue to rest in peace, may the Lord continue to protect, comfort and bless those they left behind including their families and loved ones and may God continue to guide and lead our great nation Nigeria.

Happy Armed Forces Remembrance Day! (Flowerbudnews)

Obi donates N75m to mission hospital in Enugu

    By Flowerbudnews
Enugu:  The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, has donated N75 million to Annunciation Hospital Health Scheme, owned by Congregation of Daughters of Divine Love, Enugu.

“This donation is towards building College of Nursing Sciences to boost number of healthcare professionals in the country,” Obi said on Sunday in Enugu while handing the cheque of the donation to Daughters of Divine Love.

According to him, the donation is in huge appreciation of what the congregation of daughters of divine love are doing in the area of helping to build a better society.

He said: “If you look at the wonderful works they are doing, I have to support them.

“And it is in line with that that I have been going round talking to friends to help especially now that they have the intention of building collage of nursing sciences which is critical if you consider the future.

“Nigeria today lacks basic medical care workers which nursing is number one. They want to build a collage for that and I want to partner with them in that direction.

“And I have also spoken to somebody I consider very committed in building a better nation and his contribution is immesurable in supporting such things globally and is now doing so. He is Prof Godwin Ozuo that donated $50,000, which is N60 million, to make the money up”.

Obi noted that no true Nigerian should be exhausted about building a better society, adding: “We have to get involved because things are becoming more difficult.”

He said there was a huge need to support what voluntary agencies like the Daughters of Divine Love is doing, which is immeasurable.

“They have paid huge bills people cannot pay in this hospital. The also have other facilities they run, where they provide education and they are doing this selflesly,” he added.

Responding, Sister Annastasia Dike, the Superior General of the Congregation of the Daughters of Divine Love, said “if we had started looking for this money ourselves, maybe in years we may not be able to realise it because of the economic situation of the country”.

Dike said: “People.are not even willing to give because they don’t have. This is how difficult it is. We are doing this as part of our intention to raise a collage of nursing sciences.

“Of cause you can see how acute the shortage of health personnels is here nigeria now because people are leaving the country to look for greener pastures and do you blame them?”

She appreciated the philantrophic gestures of Obi and Prof.Ozuo for their donation; while promising judicious use of the money and construction of buildings for the college commencing within days. (Flowerbudnews)

  • Betta Edu:  List of Fake Assets: When Will Children Of Hate Get Tired Of Mischief

Betta Edu:  List of Fake Assets: When Will Children Of Hate Get Tired Of Mischief

    Flowerbudnews

Abuja (Flowerbudnews): This is a boom time for writers of fortune. They are making a fortune from their sponsors cooking up infantile pieces of nauseating lies about the suspended Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu.

Of recent, some journalists of fortune and hack writers mostly operating through quacks online platforms and writing with pseudonym names, have relentlessly churned out an avalanche of insipid, often poorly scripted lies against her.

They have been dissipating energies trying to manufacture and pin on her alleged fraud charges, all to impeach her character and destroy her image.

The question is; When will these children of hate get tired of trying to pull down an innocent young lady whose only offense was bringing to bear on her job, unprecedented passion, devotion, dexterity, and energy?

Again, the children of hate are at it. Operating under a fake social media platform, “EFCC Liberty TV”, in their latest albeit futile attempt to bring down Dr. Edu, they have, childishly and laughably, come out with a list of assets, including houses, jewelry, cash, etc which they claim she acquired just within four months of assumption of office as Minister.

How imbecilic and thoughtless can a bunch of hired goons and mischief-makers be?

(Dr. Betta Edu;  friend of the helpless)

In compiling their satanic list, it probably never occurred to these illiterates that it’s practically impossible for a lady as young as Dr. Edu and a Minister of the Federal Republic suprientdenting a Ministry as sensitive as Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, to acquire such eye-popping assets just within four months without being sniffed out even without EFCC’s investigation.

Too bad for the mercantile writers; they have misfired and their sponsors should demand a refund of the money paid to them to destroy Dr. Edu by publishing the non-existing assets.

Not only that the so-called assets which in any case are phantom assets, are not owned by Edu nor belong to her, Dr. Edu’s Code of Coduct Bureau Form is available in the EFCC and the anti-graft agency did not find in the list, any of the alleged assets listed by the agents of darkness as belonging to her or in her possession.

Again, when will children of hate and naysayers be tired of their futile effort to destroy Dr. Edu?

One thing is clear, however; It is theirs to stumble and fall and it’s Dr. Edu’s to triumph and continue to soar higher and higher to their consternation! (Flowerbudnews)

NAFDAC Moves to Boost Clients Capacity, Trains them on Risk Mgt System, Ports Inspection Data Capture

    By Biola Lawal
Abuja (Flowerbudnews): The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control NAFDAC has intensified efforts for efficient and seamless port clearance procedures to achieve best practices within the industry.
